Absence management
When an employee drops out, you want them healthy again and enjoying their work as soon as possible. We do that together: a dedicated case manager and a dedicated doctor who know your organisation, and you, as one team.
Together as one team
You work with a dedicated case manager and a dedicated doctor. They know your organisation: what the work looks like, who the managers are and what is going on in the teams. Together with HR and the manager they form one team, with short lines.
They keep an eye on everything that stands in the way of recovery. Absence is rarely just medical: poor sleep, worries at home or too much pressure at work count just as much.
Suitable help straight away. If more is needed, we start an intervention from our network of specialists at once: a psychologist, coach, or help with sleep, lifestyle, money worries, grief or caring for a relative. No waiting list. So someone is already working on recovery while the process runs. More under prevention & vitality.
How we go about it
- The manager stays in touch When someone calls in sick, the manager remains the first point of contact. The report is in the absence system and the case manager follows it from that moment.
- The case manager assesses what is needed For short, clear-cut absence, the manager stays in charge and we follow from a distance. If there are signs it will take longer or is not only medical, the case manager contacts your employee and starts an intervention straight away where it helps.
- The doctor as soon as it is medical Your dedicated doctor sees your employee, looks at what someone can do and advises on suitable work.
- Together towards recovery and work A plan with suitable work and the right interventions, adjusted until your employee is fully back at work.
And the process?
It is right, without taking centre stage. Your case manager monitors the steps of the Gatekeeper Improvement Act (Wet verbetering poortwachter) and keeps the case file in order. You stay in control; we make sure everyone knows the next step. If a case file stalls, hand it to us as a problem case. Want to be involved sooner, before someone drops out? See prevention & vitality.
Early signalling
Seeing the signals before they become absence
Strain shows on four levels, and a manager can recognise them without medical knowledge. Most of it is visible for weeks before it becomes absence. That is where acting is easiest.
- 01PhysicalPersistent tiredness, more small complaints or short absence, poor sleep.
- 02EmotionalA shorter fuse, or quiet and withdrawn. Cynicism about the work.
- 03Mental and behaviourConcentration and memory slip, more mistakes, working through everything.
- 04Meaning‘What is the point?’ Loss of meaning, friction with your own values.
